Venue: CTRL Collective
Date: October 27, 2016
On a spooky fall night, VRScout hosted a VR Haunted Mansion at CTRL Collective, filled with 20 different terror -inducing virtual reality experiences created by the top innovators at the forefront of LA’s VR scene. Nothing scares the FoxTales development squad, and we jumped at the chance to get our hands dirty hacking Samsung’s Gear 360 camera to fully integrate with our platform.
Haunted 360 VR Photo Experience
Our final solution was the world’s first fully automated social 360 media capture experience . Users literally freaked out while scrolling through and viewing their captured media in full 360 degrees on our StoryStudio kiosk and our 360 gallery. And our custom Timeline share integration kept everyone’s social networks fully engaged (from the safety of their homes).
Of course, we had to build an immersive environment worthy of 360 content, so we concepted and created a zombie holding facility packed with a pile of fresh dead bodies (fake, of course), links of chains holding the living and the dead captive, and finished it off with just a little bit of blood (also fake). Sitting proudly in the middle of the fenced in facility was a Samsung Gear 360 camera to capture all of the 360 zombie horrors.
As guests were released from the zombie holding facility, they were able to easily view and share their epic 360 content straight to their Facebook timeline for all to experience.
Huge thanks to VRScout and Samsung for empowering a totally new type of tale told through the FoxTales platform.
