Each year in Austin, OMD‘s Ignition Factory brings together many of their amazing clients as well as great minds in marketing to talk shop around marketing innovation. We were thrilled to be invited this year to share in some amazing BBQ, but more importantly, to show off the ever-changing ways we wield our platform to shift the perception of what is possible in our industry.
We wanted to not only demonstrate our wide range of technical capabilities, but also show how we wield our platform to activate unique branded experiences. We designed two OMD SXSW experiences with some Lone Star flair seared right in to showcase what can be dreamed up inside our platform.
We are constantly pushing the industry to be more than a logo on a gif, and to prove it, we built a dynamic word-face rendering engine that allowed users to rebuild their face using words they themselves typed into our kiosk. On top of the technical chops, we showed off the diversity in design by allowing users to select between two different graphic treatments of their face (either OMD’s iconic shade of red or themed to Austin’s unique and vibrant culture).
Together with OMD, we compiled lists of some of our favorite marketing buzz words that would serve as a base for each word cloud. In addition to these marketing terms, each user was asked to list a word that summed up marketing innovation and a word that summed up SXSW. Those answers were added to the base list, making each set of words as unique as the face being created. Not every activation needs a dynamic word face, but every brand needs to be able to think about what it means to create an emotional engagement with their consumer and their event and that’s wat we were there to showcase.
For those who wanted to show a more light-hearted side of content (and all the flavors from the Stir-Up at Lambert’s), we created a second activation that was just as delicious as the first. Our BurstGif experience from the OMD Innovation Stir-Up featured a 10-frame capture with animated overlay that was unique to OMD at SXSW – a juicy OMD steak sizzling on a grill with smoke filling the air. And if you wanted content that was a little less smoky, we had two other BurstGif overlay options to choose from, both highlighting OMD as an exciting creative agency.
It was an honor to partner with such an innovate award-winning agency down in the Lone Star state and we were honored to be able to show off our perspective on the visual experience industry to such a talented group of peers! ‘Til next time!
