Oakley came to us with the goal of stopping attendees in their tracks at the PGA Show in Orlando where companies showcase the newest technology and products the industry has to offer. Following the success of their Bubba Watson Hovercraft, Oakley took it up a notch and built a revolutionary Jetpack that could literally fly golfers from shot to shot, so it wasn’t difficult for us to let our imaginations fly.
For the PGA Show, the huge event showcasing the newest technology and trends in the golf industry, Oakley wanted to show off their newest products, including their popular Prizm shades, as well as highlight their recent invention, Bubba Watson’s golf cart jetpack.
We knew that giving attendees the chance to actually get on the Jetpack would drive a ton of interest, but we also wanted to ensure users had a unique shareable moment, so we thought “why not let them fly?” and with that in mind, concepted a cinemagraph experience to give the illusion that users were high up above the famous 16th Hole at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
To get this high-flying effect off the ground, we placed the jetpack on top of and in front of chroma key green screen. Guests then strapped into the Jetpack and hit go, triggering a single portrait capturing which was then merged with a 120 frame animation placing the user and the jetpack high above the rowdiest hole in all of golf.
PGA Show visitors lined up day after day to see jump in the two-time Masters Tournament winner’s Jetpack and make their own cinemagraph over the Arizona golf course. Even Bubba Watson stopped by to create a cinemagraph and take a virtual flight over the famous course.
